The VIVATURF landscape and ecosystem-Cuera
Its landscape is integrated into the network of protected areas of Asturias and covers a large area of eastern Asturias. Slopes, forests, valleys and peaks are deployed along five municipalities of this region: Cabrales, Llanes, Peñamellera Alta and Baja Peñamellera Ribadedeva. A total of 40 kilometers in length that start near the Sella River in the west and continue a short distance from the sea, ending at the eastern end of the Principality, by the river Deva.
The ecosystem Cuera is also a well nourished. Of fauna highlights the presence of the fox, marten or bobcat, and the abundance of deer and wild boar. Hopefully we can glimpse the flying eagle, vultures, Egyptian vultures and other birds of prey. The forest consists primarily of beech, oak and holm oak. If we look at the mountains from the coast we see that there is hardly appreciable vegetation, however, exceeded the first line of summits, the Cuera opens to narrow valleys, often blind, home endless meadows and fringed brañas ash, maple and hawthorn.
The wider valley and productive from the standpoint of livestock is undoubtedly Viango Llosa. On the slopes surrounding this plain and almost to the highest summit of the Sierra, the Pico Turbine, lies the largest wooded area of the mountain: a beech eútrofo facing north, which includes the frequent fogs that come from the sea and fail at this point exceed the tailpiece.
